Snowplow Sam
Snowplow Sam is a progressive skating skill program from Learn to Skate USA designed to teach children the fundamental movement skills necessary for figure skating. Designed for young beginners, this level focuses on balance, coordination, and introductory movement on the ice in a fun, supportive environment.
Ages
What aged skaters are appropriate for this program?
Young beginners, typically ages 3-4 years old, who are just learning how to skate. Children have little to no skating experience.

Cost
Lakeland Figure Skating Club offers 2 sessions during the fall/winter season. Sign up for just one or both.
Each session is $
US Figure Skating Annual Membership Fee (see table below) once per year.
Equipment Needed
Please ensure your skater has the following:
- A pair of properly fitted figure skates
- Warm flexible clothing and/or jacket
- A bike or ski helmet if you desire
- Mittens or gloves to keep hands warm
Ice Shows
LFSC skaters put on 2 ice shows throughout the season: the Holiday Show and the Spring Ice Show. Snowplow skaters have the option to participate in one or both shows if they'd like. Registration for the ice shows is separate from regular session registration.
Frequently Asked Questions
My child is older and has never tried skating before. Should I sign them up for this?
Snowplow Sam is for children under the age of 5. For children 5 and older who have never skated, you should sign them up for the Learn to Skate program and they will begin in Basic Level 1.
What if I am not sure they will like it, can we just TRY it before signing up?
