About Us
Dedicated to excellence on the ice, the Lakeland Figure Skating Club provides comprehensive training for every stage of the journey—from Learn to Skate and Basic Skills to advanced competitive levels. Join us to build confidence, master new skills, and forge lifelong friendships in the heart of our skating community.
As a club, our skaters produce two programs a year: the Holiday Show and the Spring Ice Show.
Our program is proud to be affiliated with U.S. Figure Skating through the Learn to Skate USA curriculum. This ensures our instruction follows nationally recognized standards for skill development and progression.
We offer the following skill level structure:
- Snowplow Sam - Designed for young beginners (typically 3-5), focusing on balance, coordination, and introductory movement on the ice in a fun, supportive environment.
- Learn to Skate Basic Level 1-6 - A progressive series introducing fundamental skating skills such as forward and backward skating, stops, turns, and edges.
- Pre-Freestyle - Included within the Learn to Skate curriculum, this level bridges Basic Skills and Freestyle by introducing beginning figure skating elements such as spins, jumps, and more advanced edge work.
- Freestyle - For skaters advancing beyond Learn to Skate and moving into figure skating disciplines. At this level, skaters continue developing jumps, spins, footwork, and performance skills, and may begin participating in testing through U.S. Figure Skating. Skaters at the Freestyle level are responsible for obtaining their own private coaches, which includes additional coaching fees. Group lessons may be offered based on coach availability for an additional fee.
- Private lessons are available at all levels, allowing skaters to receive individualized instruction and progress at their own pace alongside group class participating
- Competition opportunities are available at all levels, with skaters able to participate in appropriate events as they progress, including introductory competitions within U.S. Figure Skating programs.
